Tokyo Drift Cars


Most of the drifting cars had to be upgraded to drift properly, like the Nisssn 350Z which had to be upped to 475hp through the use of turbocharging. LSD differentials were also fitted. The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX four wheel drive cars had to have their gearboxes locked to rear wheel drive to allow for the crazy drifting action you’ll see in the movie.

In total, Tokyo Drift used over 200 cars for the movie, and they came from all around the world. There are 11 Nissan 350Z cars alone, and these were brought in from Japan because they required right-hand drive vehicles for the movie. Three of them were used for crash scenes. Most of the cars were second hand, as they needed some out of production cars like Toyota Chasers, Mazda RX7s and old Nissan Silvias. From the Mitsubishi stables came 10 units of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX cars

Hybrid and Electric cars are considered eco friendly and are designed in such a way to lower the gasoline use.

Electric cars totally depend on electricity, which means they are cent per cent electric. They have to get charged and the car moves till the charge lasts.

On the other hand, Hybrid cars can be called a partially electric. They make use of a mixture of gas and electric power.

The primary power source of Hybrid cars is the internal combustion engine, with a battery of electric cells and a hub mounted DC motors, which supplies the supplementary propulsion. The Hybrid engines will not operate at low speeds under very moderate acceleration. It works if some charge is provided. When there is a need for extra power, the conventional engine provides it. As the batteries will not be able to deliver infinite charge, the gas burning engines are provided in hybrid cars

Well, in electric cars are so simple, a rechargeable battery is used to provide the power. The electric car will run as long as the battery provides the charge. This means that electric cars depend wholly on the local electric charge.

One main difference between the hybrid and electric cars is with regard to batteries. In a hybrid car, the batteries not only provide energy but also get recharged while driving. On the other hand, the batteries of an electric car do not get recharged unless plugged to some source of energy.

Suzuki will launch a variant of the Swift Hybrid Electric Vehicle (EV) in the event the Tokyo Motor Show 2011, December. Swift Hybrid EV will use a combination of gasoline engine and electric motor as driving a vehicle.

It’s just cruising Swift Hybrid EV electric engine is still low or just about 30 km (19 miles). However, Suzuki has not officially announced any other technical details about this EV Swift.

Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire launched at Rs 4.79-Rs 7.09 lakh

After the successful launch of A-Star, new Swift, Ertiga and Ritz, Maruti Suzuki India has launched the much-awaited 2012 model of their popular sedan ‘Swift Dzire’ in Indian Market. New Maruti Swift Dzire is based on the 2011 model of Swift hatchback which went on sale in August, 2011 in India, promising better dynamics, increased performance and improved CO2 emissions and better fuel economy. Maruti Suzuki India has limited the length of new Swift DZire under four metres to get the excise benefits (excise duty is 10 percent on vehicles under 4 metres and 22 percent above 4 metres in length). As expected because of this benefit the new Swift Dzire is cheaper in comparison to the 2011 models. The base model of petrol Swift Dzire is priced at Rs. 4,79,000 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) and base model of diesel is priced at Rs. 5,80,000 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). The new DZire has at least 150 new features compared to the existing one. The company, however, will continue to produce the old DZire in stripped down versions to target the fleet segment. It is exepcted that Maruti will rename the sedan to cater the fleet services.

Exora CFE will provide a better “real world” fuel consumption compared to CPS. The figures at constant speed do not involve any acceleration or braking thus not representing the “real world” situation.

In real world, you need to rev the CPS engine more in daily traffic to move the MPV due to lack of low end torque. The CPS system is designed to give more power at high rev so at low rev, the engine struggles to move the weight of the car. People tend to rev the CPS engine because of this and this hurts the fuel consumption.

CFE on the other hand, addresses this issue with a very high torque right from 2000 RPM. Coupled with the CVT gearbox, the CFE engine will improve the fuel consumption greatly in daily usage where you are constantly accelerating and braking. If you know how to keep a constant low RPM, CVT will help a lot in term of fuel consumption compared to Exora CPS

The blacked out grille that we saw on the previous set of photos is also not shown, so it could be that the earlier set of photos are from an earlier prototype.

The Proton Inspira R3 is only available in the 1.8 manual transmission variant, and is limited to 100 units. Basically anyone who buys an Inspira 1.8 manual for the OTR price (RM78,549 solid, RM78,999 metallic) will get an Inspira R3 with all the added R3 bits included (bodykit, 18-inch alloy wheels with tyres worth RM9,000), until the 100 units run out.

Booking opens now and ends on December 31, 2011, so you’ve got about two months to go grab your manual transmission Inspira R3. Registration and delivery starts in the second week of November. Colours available include white, silver, red and black, but we hear a majority of them are white.
